Bryan R. L. Buchanan, MA, LCPC, LPC, NCC
Mr. Buchanan earned his B.A. Degree in Psychology from Bowie State University in 2002 and completed his M.A. Degree in Counseling Psychology at Bowie State University in 2006. While a student at Bowie State University, Mr. Buchanan became a member of several Honor Societies, which include Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society, Alpha Chi Honors Society, and Psi Chi Honors Society. In addition, Mr. Buchanan was also an active member with Campus Ministries at Bowie State University. Mr. Buchanan facilitated Bible studies and other Christ-centered events for Bowie State University students, and served as Vice President of Campus Ministries for a year.
Through his extensive clinical and School based Counseling, Mr. Buchanan provides individual and family counseling services that address behavior management; the development, restoration, or enhancement of adaptive behaviors and skills; and enhancement or maintenance of daily living skills. Mr. Buchanan’s clinical skills also include being able to apply the following theoretical counseling approaches: Christian Counseling, Adlerian Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, Rational-Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Art Therapy, Play Therapy, and Anger Management Therapy. Mr. Buchanan’s professional goal is to become a Marriage and Family Counselor, with an emphasis on Pre-marital counseling, in order to provide Biblical counsel for singles, couples, marriages, and families. Mr. Buchanan believes that it is essential to educate and counsel single men and women on cultivating their relationship with Jesus and on how to be purposeful in their singleness. As a result, these single men and women will be building a firm foundation on which to build a marriage and family.
Mr. Buchanan believes that Jesus Christ is the Wonderful Counselor and that our joy, peace, love, wisdom, and completeness are found only in Him. Mr. Buchanan is a current member of Colmar Manor Bible Church and has been attending this church for over 20 years. Mr. Buchanan’s current ministry activities include teaching Jr. Church and fulfilling the duties of an Usher. Mr. Buchanan has also served as a tutor and has been involved in Bible studies for teens while attending Colmar Manor Bible Church. Mr. Buchanan also enjoys spending time writing articles that are geared towards building up and increasing the believer’s understanding and wisdom in God.
