Stefanie Peterson, MA, LGPC, NCC
Stefanie has profound empathy for people and believes that within a trusting, compassionate relationship longings are identified, and nurtured, and wounded hearts are healed. She is passionate about providing a safe haven where people can explore how they can be transformed by God's healing grace and truth and see their lives changed.
Stefanie believes that each client has unique concerns and issues that should be focused upon one at a time. Counseling is a collaborative process that can help you gain personal insight and lead you to a better understanding of yourself and others. By creating a warm, caring, and empathic environment, Stefanie uses a combination of theoretical approaches to best suit her clients’ needs. She works with her client to set specific goals and set an orderly approach in order to reach those goals.
As a veteran of the military, Stefanie has an interest in working with active military, veterans, and their families. She is also interested in working with individuals or couples who are experiencing issues related to anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-worth issues, PTSD, life-transitions, women’s issues, and spirituality. She has a passion to help couples step back from the brink of divorce and not just survive but thrive. Stefanie integrates her faith while using cognitive-behavioral and strengths-based approaches along with evidence-based counseling practices.
Stefanie has been married for 17 years. Her husband is still Active Duty Air Force and is a pilot at Andrews Air Force Base. She and her husband are board members of Metro Church in Alexandria, VA and serve together on the board for Shepherd’s Gate, a faith-based community-orientated preventative health organization.
Stefanie received her Master’s degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling through Regent University. She has a Master’s in Public Administration from Troy University and received her Bachelor of Science at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Stefanie previously served 17 years active duty in the Air Force as an Intelligence Officer. Since transitioning out of military service, she now works as an Operations Manager for Amazon.
